Completing the B Impact Assessment shows your business meets B Lab’s foundation requirements and it gives you a roadmap to keep improving your impact over time.
Under the new B Corp certification process (V2.1), there’s no longer a target score to hit. Instead, every business must meet the foundation requirements and take action across all Impact Topics.
Here are some practical ways to meet the foundation requirements and keep building your impact:
Start with quick wins – document policies, measure your carbon footprint, and formalise inclusive practices.
Strengthen governance and workforce engagement – embed stakeholder decision-making and involve your team in shaping sustainability goals.
Use peer learning – programmes like ours connect you with other SMEs so you can share challenges, solutions, and momentum.
Engage with the B Corp community locally – from your Sussex Impact Pathway cohort to B Local groups (Brighton B Local is co-chaired by our co-founder Demi Heath), you’ll gain a ready-made network for peer learning, collaboration, and collective action that drives change at scale.
Treat milestones as opportunities – at Year 3, Year 5 and beyond, the framework asks you to demonstrate progress in each impact area. Use these checkpoints to raise your ambition, not just maintain compliance.
